Learn Something New Every Day.

Those scrapbookers in the UK, who read Scrapbook Inspirations will no doubt know who Shimelle Laine is. Part of their design team, she's an amazing scrapbooker. You can see for yourself how creative and talented she is by following her blog here.

Anyway, I'm really excited to have signed up for her Learn Something New Every Day online class. My first online class! I'm looking forward to it, and hope I can keep up with making a page every day. I've downloaded the preparation notes, so I just need to sort out my kit, ready for the start on Tuesday.

In the meantime, here's what I've been making lately:

A birthday card.

I decorated my Moleskine.

Now, to go and choose and my papers for my class kit..

Bonjour!

Ok, well not really bonjour anymore, as I'm no longer in France. I took a fair few pictures, but as my digicam decided to die, I had to go back in time to disposable cameras, so I need to get them developed before I can post them. France was a lot of fun, but I'm glad to be home. Mainly because I was silly and ended up getting super super sunburnt, and had to waste two days of my holiday in bed! I'm happy that I can now recover in my own bed, cuddling my very missed kitties, and browsing all my favourite blogs for inspiration.

Today, I'm loving:

Ashley @ 31 Experiment and all the fantabulous pictures in her Flickr.

I love them!

And also on my love list: Creature Comforts, and in particular, the awesome printable freebies. I'm about to go and print some of these off now to use to decorate my moleskine.

Whilst I was away, my copy of Keri Smith's Wreck This Journal arrived.

"For anyone who's ever wished to, but had trouble starting, keeping or finishing a journal or sketchbook comes WRECK THIS JOURNAL, an illustrated book that features a subversive collection of prompts, asking readers to muster up their best mistake- and mess-making abilities to fill the pages of the book (and destroy them). Acclaimed illustrator, Keri Smith, encourages journalers to engage in "destructive" acts-poking holes through pages, adding photos and defacing them, painting with coffee and more - in order to experience the true creative process. Readers discover a new way of art and journal making - and new ways to escape the fear of the blank page and fully engage in the creative process."
I can't wait to get going on mine! I've been watching videos on YouTube of other people's books, and am full of ideas. One of the first things the book instructs you to do, is to the crack the spine. I noticed other people were really hesistant about this, but I love cracking the spines, it's one of the things I love the most about getting my hands on brand new book. (Eeeek, book abuse!) I found this awesome blog where all the ladies were wrecking their journals together, and blogging their results. Unfortunately I missed the group by a couple of weeks :( If you're currently working on this book, or know anyone who is, please let me know!

It's my first day back at work tomorrow after a two week break. I have that feeling in the pit of my stomach that I used to get the night before the first day back at school. I think I'll go and do some journal wrecking to take my mind off things before bed.

Untouched

I can't stop listening to this song! It is definitely my favourite song right now. It's weird, my favourite genre of music is rock, but I am loving poppy/indie stuff right now. My playlists consist of La Roux, Ladyhawke, Lady Gaga.. Fun summery stuff that I just can't help but dance to.

I didn't think I was going to get a holiday this year, but yay.. I am going to France this coming Saturday for a week! My friend's parents have kindly let us borrow their house, so I am looking forward to getting away for a week and relaxing. I don't think the weather is going to be brilliant, and I'm going to be nowhere near a beach. BUT! We are staying on a farmhouse with it's own lake, so I plan on taking a load of books and chilling out at the side of the lake reading reading reading. And in preparation for this, I have bought a few books that have been sitting on my Amazon wishlist for a while:

I know I am going to get mocked endlessly by my friends for taking the Twilight books with me, but I can't help it - I love Edward Cullen!

Things I Love Thursday!

First post! Instead of an intro, I give you instead a Things I Love Thursday!

Cheese and tomatoes on toast. I've only just discovered tomatoes. After years of thinking I don't like them, and so avoiding them, I've now found out that I love them and I just can't get enough of them. Strange.

Vampires! I must be the only person in the world not to have fallen under the Twilight spell.. yet. I bought the book a while ago, just to find out what the fuss is all about, and, I have to admit it, I'm hooked. I'm already half way through, and I'm finding myself swooning for Edward Cullen. (I've yet to see the film though, so I haven't gone crazy for Robert Pattinson!) But it's not just Twilight I'm having crazy undead love for - there's also True Blood. Slightly more saucy than Twilight, but just as captivating. And how much do I adore the Southern American accents!

Puppies! My mom's dogs, Millie and Ty had their second litter of pups just over two weeks ago, and they are ADORABLE. There's 7 of them all together, and they're already proving a bit of a handful for poor Millie, who's not producing enough milk to keep the hungry little things full. So, they're having to be bottle fed to keep them happy. I made sure that I helped out with the feeding when I went to visit this past weekend.

These Alexander McQueen boots. I need them.

Blogger! I can't get enough of finding new and inspirational Blogs to read. I love seeing the art other people make, even if it makes me crazy jealous that I'm not nearly as creative as you all.

Painted Nails. Bright reds, electric blues, darkest black.. I'm painting my nails any colour that will stand out against the boredom and monotony of my work uniform.

The last day of work before my annual leave! Tomorrow is the last day before I finish for two whole weeks of rest and relaxation! I have no plans yet, but I cannot wait to have TWO WHOLE WEEKS in a row, away from the stress of work.

Spotify. This is such an awesome concept. I can listen to any music, any album, and create a tonne of playlists, without downloading anything! (Apart from the software.) My favourite feature though, is that it lets you share playlists between other Spotify users. If anyone has this, you can check out my playlist of fun music I'm enjoying right now by clicking here.

Handmade/Altered Journals. I've been going crazy browsing Etsy looking at the handmade journals and diaries, and they've given me inspiration to have a go at something myself...
